Little No14 is a local startup company based in Swadlincote, Derbyshire. They specialise in the restoration of old furniture to give it a more modern and up to date 'Shabby Chic' feel. They also create handmade products including scented candles, hand painted ceramic goods, woodwork and pottery. Everything they create has been lovingly hand crafted to provide customers with products they can really enjoy.
Little No14 came to us with an idea... they had already started to restore furniture but had yet to turn it into a fully functioning business and that's where Visinatus comes in. We love projects like this, it allows us to let our creative juices flow without being confined to a pre-existing logo or branding guidelines, we can set our own. We were tasked with creating Little No 14 a logo that would be the face of the brand, a website that could be used as the hub for all of Little No14's activity and promotional materials such as business cards and online adverts.
Stage 1 - Ground Work
After a few meetings we got to work on creating the perfect logo for 'Little No14'. The client knew exactly what she wanted and came ready prepared with an existing logo as a starting point. After further discussion, we then decided on the colour palette that the brand would be working with and discussed different typography options for the text feature. Below you can see the initial image, our initial concepts and the final design. The logo was complete and the client was very satisfied. The logo was created to have a 'Shabby Chic' yet 'homely' feel and the typography used was chosen to evoke a vintage look to ensure prospective customers feel safe in the knowledge that their products are being created by people with experience.
Stage 2 - The Build
Our next ports of call were the promotional materials and the website itself. After securing high powered hosting and both a web and email domain for the client, we got to work in creating the promotional gear. We felt that using block colours wouldn't help 'Little No14' stand out from the crowd; in a niche yet somewhat saturated market, it's important that our client's business cards told a story. Using a wood effect background we were able to tell that story and create a product that the client can be proud of. Alongside this we created social media branding for the client's Facebook page which is where most of her interaction with customers takes place. The website has been designed to bring every aspect of Little No14 all under one roof. As an online based venture, it's important that our client could use a website as the central hub for her business and we have achieved just that. Utilising social media feeds for news, a gallery to showcase projects and an all important store area for the completion of sales has enabled this small independent business to thrive in the online world.
Stage 3 - The Finished Article
The completed website build includes features such as, Social Media feeds so customers can stay up to date with our clients latest products, a live chat feature powered by Facebook so that prospective customers can contact our client with ease for any sales enquiries and a customised content management system that allows our client to remove and add products as and when she chooses using a simple drag and drop system. This means our client can maintain the website herself after being fully trained by the web development team.
