Hello all and welcome to another installment of our SEO guide, it was fantastic to hear from so many of you over the past couple of weeks and we are delighted to already be seeing a change in how you're operating your SEO campaigns to suit your companies needs.
This week we are taking a look at another very basic SEO technique 'Title Tags' and why they are important to how potential customers/viewers see your website on Google.
This weeks post is going to be quite a short one by our standards as there isn't a great deal of explanation that goes into title tags. That being said although its a short subject it is probably one of if not the most important of our basic SEO techniques. So lets get cracking shall we?
What is a 'Title Tag'?
A title tag is what is seen first when people find your website on Google. Not only is it important for viewers its also an extremely important factor in regards to SEO ranking, the search engine uses the title tag to pull key words from it to ensure your site is being seen in the right places.
As with all SEO guidelines there are certain best practices to stick with to ensure the best results from Google search engines. With title tags it is important that every page on your website has a different title tag to explain the content of the page. This is a huge factor in terms of how googles SEO algorithm judges what content is on the page and how relevant it is to your associated keyword.
The length of the title tag is important too. when you view a title tag on Google it will on display a certain amount of characters, usually around 60 so make sure you try and keep it around that length. If it goes over don't worry too much as it will still be used by Google as an SEO factor but the user won't be able to view the rest of the sentence. we have shown an example of a long title tag below...
As you can see after so many characters the sentence turns into ... you may have noticed that there is also a paragraph underneath, its almost like an organic advert listing this paragraph is called a Meta descripition. Guess what? Yes we are going to be covering Meta descriptions in next weeks post.
Have a fantastic week guys and don't forget to send us a message if you are struggling to understand anything.
